Living a balanced life means designing my day in a way that nurtures my body, mind, and creativity. I’m a 25-year-old from Nepal, and my day begins with a gentle reminder to hydrate and power up for the busy hours ahead, from the early morning workout to work to an hour of programming, and finally winding down with some quiet relaxation before bed. Here’s a day-by-day breakdown of my weekly routine:
Sunday: Rest & Preparation
Morning:
I begin the day slowly with a glass of lukewarm water with lemon, easing into the morning.
There’s no fixed workout, just a leisurely routine—maybe a relaxed walk or light stretching—to welcome the day.
Late Morning to Afternoon:
I take my time preparing a filling Nepali breakfast, such as Dahi Chiura with seasonal fruits or a vegetable poha.
My day is free, so I often use this day for meal prepping for the week. I cook extra portions of Dal Bhat Tarkari or Gundruk ko Jhol that I can reheat later.
Evening:
I enjoy a relaxed dinner, perhaps trying a new recipe like Dhido with a fresh vegetable curry.
The night is reserved for leisure, journaling, or reading—a quiet time to reflect before the workweek starts.
Monday to Friday: Structured & Purposeful
Morning Routine (Sunday to Friday alike):
5:45 – 6:00 AM – Wake-Up & Hydrate:
I rise early and begin my day with a refreshing glass of water.6:00 – 6:30 AM – Breakfast Preparation & Eating:
I prepare a nutritious, Nepali-inspired breakfast. Options include Dahi Chiura with fresh fruits, Vegetable Poha, or a hearty bowl of oatmeal with nuts and bananas.6:30 – 6:45 AM – Get Ready & Pack Snack:
After breakfast, I pack a portable snack (such as a banana, apple, roasted chickpeas, or a boiled egg) to keep hunger at bay during my work hours.7:00 AM – Leave Home:
I set off for work with a clear mind and a well-prepared start.
Workday:
8:00 AM – 11:45 AM – Work Period:
At the office, I remain productive while taking short breaks every 1–2 hours to stretch and keep my body active.11:45 AM – 12:45 PM – Lunch Break:
This time is for lunch at the office from 11:45 to 12:15 then I walk around the office and return to the office at 12:45 PM.12:45 PM – 5:00 PM – Work Period:
I continue my work, staying hydrated and occasionally enjoying a quick, healthy bite.
Evening Routine (After Returning Home):
6:00 – 6:10 PM – Arrival Home & Refresh:
When I get home around 6 PM, I change into my workout clothes and drink another glass of water.6:10 – 7:00 PM – Main Workout Session:
Depending on the day:Monday, Wednesday, Friday: I perform a HIIT and strength circuit that includes a warm-up, a HIIT circuit (burpees, mountain climbers, jump squats), followed by strength training (push-ups, squats, lunges, planks), and a cool-down with static stretches.
Tuesday, Thursday: I focus on core work and flexibility with exercises like bicycle crunches, leg raises, and extended planks, finishing with gentle yoga to increase flexibility and calm the mind.
7:00 – 7:45 PM – Dinner Preparation & Eating:
I prepare a quick, healthy dinner, such as a Nepali classic like Dal Bhat Tarkari, or opt for Dhido paired with a light vegetable curry or a simple stir-fry with chapati.7:45 – 8:45 PM – Programming Session:
After dinner, I dive into a one-hour coding session. I’ve set up a comfortable, distraction-free workspace where I focus on improving my programming skills or working on personal projects.8:45 – 9:15 PM – Post-Programming Wind-Down:
Once I finish coding, I spend some time cleaning up and doing light stretching or taking a brief walk to help my mind transition from work to relaxation.9:15 – 9:30 PM – Wind Down:
I practice relaxation techniques—meditation or deep breathing—to prepare for a restful night’s sleep.10:00 PM – Bedtime:
I aim to be in bed by 10 PM, ensuring I get a full 7–8 hours of sleep.
Saturday: Active Recovery & Flexibility
Morning:
I start the day with my usual early hydration and a light Nepali breakfast.
Instead of an intense workout, I enjoy an active outdoor activity such as a brisk 30-minute walk or a bike ride.
Midday:
Lunch is a hearty Nepali meal.
Afternoon:
I dedicate some time to yoga or a gentle stretching session, allowing my muscles to recover.
Evening:
Dinner is typically a traditional Nepali dish (for instance, Chaamari with a vegetable stew) prepared simply, leaving me relaxed for the remainder of the day.
I still maintain a quiet wind-down routine, often using this time to catch up on personal interests or creative projects.
